Out of State Transferees without subsequent documentation demonstrating the reason for such transfer/s. (Protective issues without proof). Out of State Transferees inability to access Law Books from the state/s of crime, in order to fight their case/s. Harsh Sentences (Life without the Possibility of Parole vs. Life) for first time offenders of a fatal crime and with no prior criminal record. Lack of follow-up and/or monitoring of Out of State Transfers. These issues are of great concern and need to be reviewed and addressed. Out of State Transferees serving life sentences without the possibility of parole, having no access to State of Offense Law Books in order to fight their case and lacking support while in another state, is left with no hope. Without hope there is no reason to live. Without a reason to live they become depressed and vulnerable to other prisoners, the guards and/or they become suicidal.
Ongoing Harassment, Provocations and Bogas Misconducts, by prison staff, resulting in long-term confinement in Solitary Confinement, lack of concern on the part of our Government Leaders and the ignorance on the part of the Dept. Of Correction/s, when attempting to speak with them about serious issues of concern, which may ultimately end up in the loss of life of a prisoner.

Prisoners are being set up to fail in the system in order that the monetary gains continue to increase and flow into the prison system. However, monies allotted for the Rehabilitation and healing of prisoners appear to be going elsewhere. In numerous cases prisoners are asking for help for their illnesses and are not getting the responses that they expected. Instead, many are placed in Maximum security settings and/or solitary confinement. Many prisoners are given no hope, no positive future and no reason to live. There are many remorseful and reformed prisoners who are in a position where they can also be harmed, subsequent to the abusive environments in which they are subjected to. Yet, they have no alternatives, as the harsh sentences of today; mandate all prisoners of fatal crimes, regardless of the circumstances, to remain in prison for life or life without the possibility of parole. Not affording many of them a second chance to show that they can be productive citizens in the communities and/or even providing them with appropriate rehabilitative treatment. Leonna firmly believes that Prisoners can be saved through extensive and appropriate rehabilitation, consistencies, compassion and understanding, and because of this, Leonna founded New Vision Organization, Inc. a non-profit grassroots organization, in January of 2004.
